Acoustic horizons for axially and spherically symmetric fluid flow

چکیده
We investigate the formation of acoustic horizons for an inviscid fluid moving in a pipe in the case of stationary and axi-symmetric flow. We show that, differently from what is generally believed, the acoustic horizon forms in correspondence of either a local minimum or maximum of the flux tube cross-section. Similarly, the external potential is required to have either a maximum or a minimum at the horizon, so that the external force has to vanish there. Choosing a power-law equation of state for the fluid, P ∝ ρn, we solve the equations of the fluid dynamics and show that the two possibilities are realized respectively for n > −1 and n < −1. These results are extended also to the case of spherically symmetric flow.

MHD Flow of Blood through Radially Non-symmetric Stenosed Artery: a Hershcel-Bulkley Model (RESEARCH NOTE)
The purpose of this study is to develop a mathematical model for studying the magnetic field effect on blood flow through an axially non-symmetric but radially symmetric atherosclerotic artery. Herschel-Bulkley equation has been taken to represent the non-Newtonian character of blood. The response of magnetic field, stenosis height, shape parameter on velocity, volumetric flow rate in stenotic ...

متن کاملEffects of Electromagnetic Field on Gravitational Collapse
In this paper, the effect of electromagnetic field has been investigated on the spherically symmetric collapse with the perfect fluid in the presence of positive cosmological constant. Junction conditions between the static exterior and non-static interior spherically symmetric spacetimes are discussed. We study the apparent horizons and their physical significance. It is found that electromagn...

متن کاملAcoustic perturbations on steady spherical accretion in Schwarzschild geometry
The stationary background flow in the spherically symmetric infall of a compressible fluid, coupled to the space-time defined by the static Schwarzschild metric, has been subjected to linearized acoustic perturbations. The perturbative procedure is based on the continuity condition and it shows that the coupling of the flow with the geometry of space-time brings about greater stability for the ...
